赫伯特‧馬庫色 Herbert Marcuse
德裔美籍哲學家、社會學家，法蘭克福學派批判理論創始人之一，被西方譽為「新左派理論之父」。
1898年生於德國柏林，1917年加入社會民主黨，1919年起在柏林、弗萊堡大學攻讀哲學，受業於著名哲學家胡塞爾（Edmund Husserl）與海德格（Martin Heidegger）。1932年與霍克海默（Max Horkheimer）相識，並加入法蘭克福社會研究所。1934年前往美國，先後在一些研究機構和高等院校任教。1942～1950年受聘為美國政府的研究分析員，離開政府工作後，在哥倫比亞大學和哈佛大學擔任研究員。
