以前晚上烤火，聽老人講清朝路和日本路的階梯。
當時我很年輕，不懂啊，老人也沒講清楚。
我就自己走去看看老人說的路，直到研究古道的人來了。喔～我才知道這是在說這條八通關古道。
林淵源大哥口中的「清朝路」指的是清代八通關越嶺道路。這是一條貫穿中央山脈由竹山至玉里的道路。清古道經過拉庫拉庫溪北岸巒社群的部落，從玉里向西，翻越玉里山，再下到塔洛木溪，爬升將近海拔一千公尺到阿布朗山，隨後往馬嘎刺托溪下切，繼續爬上阿波蘭水池，再次往下直至馬霍拉斯溪，翻越公山稜線來到米亞桑溪，最後上到大水窟池，一路緩下抵達東埔。
